Movie Review: Encanto

No holiday season is a holiday unless it involves some kind of family traditions or family activities.  One of those traditions, for some families, is going to see a movie together.  And when it comes to good quality family movies, Disney is not in any short supply.  They have always been able to produce movies that the whole family can enjoy and share.  This holiday season is no exception.  Disney released their new animated film "Encanto."  This is a film about a Columbian magica realist story of a family that, following a serious family tragedy, recieved special powers/talents.  For generations, this family has lived together in a magical house where each member has developed their individual powers and talents.  Some of these powers include, controling the weather, talking with animals, inspiring vegitation growth, super strength and being able to hear something from a great distance.  The house, where they all live, responds to their requests and needs and it also responds to their moods.  Each family member has their own room that has been magically tailored to occupant and their magical gift. But there was one member of the family that was looked over for a magical gift...Mirabel.  The film follows the life of Mirabel, who tries her best to fit in with the rest of family, despite not having a magical talent.  The movie also features a judgemental grandmother who only offers disappointment at every turn of Mirabel's life. No matter what Mirabel does, she can't help but stand out from the rest of her family.  Her mother can cure people with her cooking.  Her sister, Luisa, can lift heavy objects with little effort while her other sister, Isabela, can grow the most beautiful flowers with just the flick of her wrist.  One day, Mirabel, notices the family home is starting to show signs of cracks, but yet, no one in her family believes her and they dismiss her concerns as something their estranged and eccentric uncle Bruno would say.  In order to save both her family and her home, Mirabel, must find out what's happening.  This movie offers laughter, suspense, incredible songs, and a wonderful cast.  Disney has done another excellent job of producing a movie that is perfect for any family with children of all ages to enjoy.  I highly recommend this movie to anyone and I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
